Minga is excited to be offering this workshop in partnership with the Township of Guelph/Eramosa and the County of Wellington’s Taste Real Programme, and the Sage Soap Company.

Do you linger over the hand-made soap at the market? Do you have sensitive skin that needs some special loving care? Do you perhaps just love the countless possibilities of fragrances, properties, and scrubs that are unlocked when you make your own soap? Or have you looked into making your own soap and gotten discouraged and overwhelmed by the bazillion specialized ingredients listed in the recipe? This workshop will walk you through the basic process of cold process soap making, using simple ingredients that you can find in the grocery store, giving you the tools you need to start creating your own concoctions at home. You’ll go home with your very own batch of 4-6 bars of customized hand-made soap to get you hooked!

What you will learn:

  • Basic cold process soap making steps.
  • Safe handling of ingredients.
  • Recommended sources for ingredients
  • How to choose ingredients and build upon your basic recipe at home.

What you will take home:

  • 4-6 bars of customized hand-made vegan soap ready to cure.
  • A hand-out with step-by step instructions and links to recommended resources.
  • Contacts with a new group of palls who are keen to swap recipes or get-together for a soap-making bee.
  • The confidence to safely handle ingredients and to perfect your own personal recipe at home.
